You're in a pile of group chats and none of them know your name.

You joined for the network. You've been reading it ever since. Most “networking communities” are just a paid tier with a free chat.

Totem

You ask. Someone who's already done it answers.

You turn up, you put your hand up, you get an answer. There's nothing to fill in first.

Three examples of what gets asked and answered on a call. Asked: how do I price a retainer? Answered: charge for the outcome, not the hours. Asked: what do I say when they ghost? Answered: one line, no pitch, just "still worth doing?" Asked: when do I hire my first closer? Answered: when you're turning calls away, not before.

Totem

Be the one answering, not asking.

You just saw what the room looks like. If you've got answers worth that seat, six quick questions tell us whether a call's worth booking, for you and for us.

Know who's on before the call.

One email when a call gets booked: who's speaking, what they run, and what they're taking questions on. Nothing in between, and you can get off it from any email we send.

Totem is the data controller. We store your email address to send you the newsletter, on the basis of the consent you give above, and your Discord username only if you choose to give it. That one is used once, to check whether you're already in the community, and never passed on. We don't sell or share your details, and we keep you on the list until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete you. You can withdraw consent at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email, or by emailing stan@totemcollective.org. You also have the right to access, correct, port or erase your data, and to complain to the ICO. Full detail in the Privacy Policy and TOS.

Totem

Long live Totem.

A room for people already building something. Our infamous guest events bring on value that shouldn't be free, but is.

Totem

The one who started it.

Stan, founder of Totem
Stan
Founder · Totem

I started Totem because most networking groups are a paid tier bolted onto a dead group chat, and I wanted the opposite: a room where asking a real question gets you a real answer. I host the calls myself, I'm learning to sell for real right alongside everyone in here, and I read every email that lands at the address below.

Totem

Who's actually in there.

Not an industry list. Three things that are true of the people who get something out of it.

01

You already run something

A business, an offer, a service, a desk you sit at on commission. Something with real numbers attached, however small. People still deciding what to do find it slow going. Everything here assumes you've already started.

02

You're stuck on something specific

Not "how do I grow": the actual thing. The step in the process that keeps breaking, the conversation that keeps going the same way. Specific questions are the only ones a live room can answer properly.

03

You'll put your mic on

The whole mechanism is you asking and someone answering you by name. Lurking works, and plenty of people do it, but it's the people who speak who walk away knowing somebody.

Totem

Still deciding what to build. Looking for a course or a curriculum to follow. Want to sit in the chat and never put your mic on? That's allowed, but you won't get much out of it.

Totem

Three rooms. Start with the first one.

Everything runs through the Main Group. The other two are there when you want a narrower room, and all three are free.

We built these three. Got an audience of your own? We’ll build yours with you →

Totem

Elusive.

The newest craft of the Totem group. We want it to stay underground. Apply if you think you're a fit.

Totem

Run events like we do.

The dashboard Totem tracks its own guest calls with, open to your community: who showed up, who's worth following up with, what turned into money.

FAQ

Do I have to pay to get in?
No. Joining Totem is free and always has been.
Is this just another Discord full of link drops?
The chat is the smallest part of it. The calls are the thing: you speak, someone answers, and you both know each other's names afterwards.
Which group should I join first?
Main Group. Everything runs through it. Sales and Premium are narrower rooms you can add later.
How do I come on as a guest?
Fill in the application form: six short questions first, then a call to talk it through. Nothing's priced until that point.
What's Elusive?
A smaller room, further in, past the free groups. More on it here if you think you're a fit.
Can Totem build a community for me?
Yes, if you've already got an audience. We set it up, get a weekly call running that people keep coming back to, and have reps follow up after each one. How it works, or email Stan.
Can I use Totem's analytics dashboard for my own community?
Yes. Free if you're in Elusive, £19.99/mo otherwise. More on it here.
I'm early. Will this be over my head?
No, but you'll get more out of it if you've already started something. The questions that get the best answers are specific ones, and specific questions come from actually running into the problem.
Do I need to be in the Discord to get the newsletter?
No. The list and the community are separate. Plenty of people on the list haven't joined, which is fine. If you drop your Discord username in the form we'll tell you whether you're already in.
How do I get off the list?
Every email we send has an unsubscribe link in it, and using it is permanent: signing up again later won't put you back on by accident.
Who do I talk to?
Stan, directly, via stan@totemcollective.org.

The Totem's already standing.
You just have to climb it.

Joining is free and takes ten seconds.
Rather hear who's on next first? Get on the list.
